In 1968 out of high school and going off to work in a steel mill I needed a car. (Yet another one) We lived on a farm and Lester, the guy who chopped down our trees, told me he had two Ramblers for sale. Both 1960. I chose the blue one that looked like a turtle and asked him how much... "How much money do you have in your pocket", he asked. I checked and told him $28.00. "Sold". I didn't have money for plates and gas to get me from Butler PA to Gary IN so I made a temp plate from an old piece of cardboard... just made up some numbers... and took off. I thought the gas gauge was broken... it kept going and going and going... an amazing little flathead 4 cyl engine... I swear it only cost me about ten bucks to make that drive... gas being about 30 cents a gallon. I drove it a long time then when I had more money I bought a 58 Olds convertible. I parked the little Nash and soon after was drafted, gave it to my cousin. Last night as I was looking at the plans for a Pietenpol Scout I noticed the Model A and T engine reminded me of that little 4 cyl Rambler. If you can't find a model A engine, I wonder if you could mount the Nash 4 on a Pete...
