Henry Bouley thought that the Lycoming and Continental engines common in E-AB aircraft were not as good as they could be and should be. He developed, and flew, a 6 cylinder engine, and had announced plans to make it available for homebuilders. He also intended to develop a 4 cylinder version.
Tragically, he was killed in the crash of a Venture. IIRC, he had purchased partial ownership of that design.
