The the R18 is air/oil cooled, 90hp (at 4,750 rpm) motorcycle engine.
It's listed as being 244lbs with gear box and intake. I suspect that the gearbox is significate part of that weight. Past BMW R engines shed a lot of weight during the conversion process.

Aesthetically its beautiful.

Like all modern engines, the electronic controls would need to be modified or replaced for reliable airplane usage. I wonder if it could entirely be replaced with something like and SDS ignition?

At least one has been fitted with carburetors.
