I’m ready to prime some of the parts for my Moni and I have a quick question. I’ve tried searching through the forums but haven’t found what I’m looking for. Probably “operator error” when it comes to search keywords.
I know how and why to finish the edges of aluminum to avoid stress risers. My question is concerning the flat areas of ribs, bar stock, etc. Are light surface scratches OK or do they need to be polished out? Look at the fuselage bulkhead below-right. There are some slight scratches on the face from the factory forming process as well as shipping/handling. This is what I’m referring to. On the left photo of the stabilizer doublers, the 2024-T bar is a dark gray color. I’m assuming that is from oxidation. Does that layer need to be sanded off or just be wiped down with acetone prior to priming?
I’ve looked in all the books I have and nothing references these areas. If someone could point me in the right direction I’d greatly appreciate it.
