Ok, I do get how to balance a horizontal stabilator, but balancing my rudder has me baffled.
For the sake of discussion, assume a rudder of 40" trailing edge length, "hinge line at 76 degrees off the vertical tail, with 3 hinge/bearing points at the top, bottom, and middle. If I suspend the rudder from the TOP, the balancing weight needs to be FWD of the hinge line (to match the attach points of the tail) in order to make it hang even with the hinge line but if I suspend the rudder from the MIDDLE point, the weight would need to be slightly behind the hinge line to make it hang in line with the hinge line. How does one do this correctly?
