I have some older(20+ years) spruce spar stock that has been kept in dark dry storage for years. It is a little darker on the surface than new wood, but otherwise beautiful. Tight grain, zero signs of ever being wet, still laser straight and no warps. I planed a bevel on one edge and the wood color brightened up after a couple of passes with the planer.
Other than the normal defects to look for in any wood, what should I be looking for because of its age?
