Our chapter project (CH-750 Cruzer) came with float style (resistance type) fuel level senders mfg. by VDO (made in India).

The "Kitplane Enthusiast" youtube guy, who built a really really nice Zenith with a Blue Angels paint scheme, has posted videos claiming that he had upgraded or swapped the Zenith supplied senders with the senders supplied by Vans Aircraft, which are mfg. by Stewart Warner.

Other than the Zenith sender stamped VDO and the Vans sender stamped Stewart Warner, the senders visually look absolutely identical down to the last detail.

So the big question is.... is there any difference in quality, function, or longevity between the VDO senders and the Stewart Warner senders? The youtube guy had previously switched over to S-W for some reason, but that may have been at a time when Zenith ued some other lower quality senders. Or it may mean that the VDO senders are not good quality even though they look completely identical.

We have the Zenith VDO units in hand. Installing what we have saves time and money of course. But if VDO is sub-par for some reason then we'd swap these out before building sub-par senders into the airplane.

Anybody here have experience or knowledge relevant to this question?
