It's a very scary thing when homebuilders think about modifying a proven design with no aeronautical engineering background. I say stick to the time-proven and tested design that has set the bar very high for a safe, reliable airplane and don't mess with it. Or take the doors off and wear a parachute when you fly your modified airplane, 'cause odds are you are going to need it. Remember, there are old pilots, and bold pilots, but there are NO old, bold pilots.

Who says they have no aeronautical engineering background? And where do you think experimental aircraft come from? I agree that people without the proper background should not make changes on their own without the proper research and expert advice, but that's one of the reasons this site exists, and it's one of the primary reasons that the experimental aircraft category exists.

There are some old bold pilots out there too.
