For those of us who love reading this kind of stuff, this is a very interesting article on the use of turbo-compounding.

It's interesting to note that this was done over 60 years ago and very successfully and it is only now that engine manufacturers are seriously looking at this concept again. With just about every car and GA aircraft uselessly spewing out 20-25% of the fuel's energy through the exhaust, it's about time this technology was dusted off and improved upon.
