If in the past many planes or glider with used 2 parallel struts (style Rans S10 http://avia.pro/sites/default/files/images/d-mofu-private-rans-s-10-sakota_planespottersnet_225450. Jpg)
This configuration seems less and less adopted in favor of V-struts as on a J3.
Apart for onboard access, do you have an idea of the reasons for this or that configuration and the advantages of each ?
