I have cub style cabane gear on my kitfox and right now the gear legs are not faired. There are 2 basic ways that I've seen to go about this.
1. And the most common is to make a tapered piece for the aft tube and wrap the whole thing in fabric. Another variation that I've seen is make a true airfoil shaped fairing to cover the whole leg. From a distance they look the same.

2. Fair each tube and leave the space in between open. Like this:gear on.jpg

So is there any data on which method is better aerodynamically?

Or is there a middle ground, on the bottom half she the tube are close together exclude both in the same fairing and at the top open the space in between?
