=HYBRID cars=Li-ion battery source ?
You are right 👍
Hybrid or electric cars are possible affordable source of cells, however this is way only for experienced homebuilders. Some battery packs (like in Audi eTron) are very well packed in safety boxes and is not easy to dismantle.

-not so optimistic...
Thanks!
This part of article is interesting:

Airbus is showing off the E-Fan 1.0 — now dubbed E-Fan 1.2 — at EAA AirVenture. It no longer has a second, rear seat. In its place is a small two-stroke gasoline engine that drives a range-extending generator, doubling the airplane’s flight endurance to around one hour plus a 30-minute reserve.
E-Fan 1.2 uses its batteries and electric motors during takeoff and landing and the gasoline power plant during cruise.

It would be very interesting to know more details about the range extender developed by Airbus and based on two stroke engine ;)

I know it sounds like non-realistic idea, but I had a long discussion with one pilot about regenerative flight. He expects that would be possible to achieve reasonable efficiency of whole system.
I will "remove dust" from our old dreams and try to upgrade our calculations.
We were thinkig about regeneration in 2010 so it is possible that technology really is already allowing to do more tests with interesting results ;)

I can find used Hyundai Nexo for sale under $20k U.S. on several adds for example Used 2020 Hyundai Nexo for Sale (with Photos) - CarGurus so this has a 160 hp motor (newer ones are 180hp) and has everything motor, controller, battery, and fuel cell, pretty cheap for 160hp. It seems likely that there are other examples out there possibly something with a motor size more in line to your way of thinking.

Wow.... this is realy low price for whole hydrogen car.
Could be interesting source of components.

Would be interesting to know exact reason why is necesary to change the battery in so many cars.
Is reason only lower battery capacity? Than what is the border? 80%? 60%?
After after how many cycles?
Even older e-car with 50 km range could make a lot of work if price is good :)

P.S.
According to the article many of this vehicles were sold to private owners. Rest has been used as spare parts source.
