    Hello dear friends!
First of all - in 2019 I wish you happiness, good health and only perfect landings :)

    PF 2019.jpg

2018 has been very interesting year...
Finally we test flown new electric Phoenix with 60 kW electric motor and endurance 2,5 hours + 30 min. reserve.
    Great experience :)

Electric aviation is not only about electric airplanes, but also infrastructure.
And also in this area has been done a lot of work.
For example simple universal wall charger in costs 2-3T EUR able to recharge electric airplanes and all electric cars.

I really hope and beleive that in 2019 we will see much more electric motorgliders and gliders :)

    Best regards!

Thank you :) I hope that winter time will be not too long and I will make before AERO 2019 much more videos and measurements.

    Hello!
I am not so optimistic about new energy storage systems... My opinion in propulsion systems is aviation generally very conservative. Look when we started to use fuel injection - many years after cars. And I beleive that majority of Rotax engines used in UL and LSA airplanes are still two carb. versions :) Aviation requests proven technologies and largest "testing bed" is automotive industry. In case of electric aviation are two other reasons why would be better to stay "connected" to electric automotive systems - prices and ground infrastructure. If electric cars industry is growing - prices of cells are going down. Good for us :) With "ground infrastructure" I mean chargers. It is necessary to slowly build systems of simple wall chargers able to recharge electric airplanes AND electric cars (that is important from my point of view). If we keep kompatible systems is chance that electric aviation will slowly grow. Superchargers are great, but you need a very strong energy source on airfield. Big airports are OK, small aeroclub airports are limited. In average we have in CR electric circuit brakers on airfields 16(32) Amps / 400 V = you cant expect to recharge with more than 12kW of power, in reality probably less... With this power you can already achieve ratio 1 min of recharge = 1 min of flight for two seater and 1 min. of recharge = 1,5-2 min of flight for one seat gliders. Still not fast like refueling, but as pilot I know that we need also time to discuss with other pilots and take cofee brakes :)

We are actually flying with SONY Li-Ion cells and I still have GEBATTERY Li-Po cells in first elektra. LiFePO are too heavy. Hydrogen... I am still a bit affraid to have 2 000 Atm tanks with hydrogen in airplane :)
    Best regards!
    Martin

In 2018 unfortunatelly died my friend Jan Kiss.
He was a real fan of aviation.
    Jan Kiss in jet.jpg
We worked together on document The wonderful Czechs on the flying machines
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAK3tTFBUHY
And on document 1 000 miles on Czech sky
    https://youtu.be/QlkDs9m43Zk
He had idea to make english subtitles to introduce development of electric aviation in Czech Republic also to foreign pilots.
It is not professionall work, but I finished it.

    Thanks for this video!
It is definitelly great that Greg Cole is promoting electric motorgliders :)
Electrically "sponzored" L/D is planned part of flight tests we want to do in about 2 weeks.
Recuperation is not that easy as it looks like - electric motor in generator mode has lower efficiency.
This will take some research ideally done in cooperation with controller and electric motor producers.
    Best regards!
