I may have a need to mig an AN6 or AN7 bolt to 1/8" 4130 plate. The wire spool says ER70S-6. Is there any compatibility problem mixing that wire, 4130 and whatever the AN bolts are made of? I'm specifically wondering if the bolt will get brittle after welding. It's a fairly high stress part...the gear clamp on a 701 and also mounts the lift struts.
The plans/factory version is a Grade 5, 3/8" hardware store bolt. It has to be ground flat on one side which doesn't leave a lotta meat; I never have liked that 3/8 bolt but they been running that forever.
