In an attempt to repurpose hydraulic bicycle brakes as heel activated brakes for my Flitzer Goblin project, I have replaced the brake activation handles on my master cylinders with welded steel pedals and am fabricating aluminum brackets on which to mount these and to serve as support plates for the eyebolt hinges on my rudder pedals (still in rough form here).
The aluminum plate is 1 1/2" x 3/16" and the angle is 1 1/4" x 3/16". I have TIG welded these together around the perimeter of the angle using generous amounts of filler rod.
Anyone care to comment on the suitability of using welded aluminum brackets in this role?
Thanks
