I have a working ROTAX 377 with drive shaft designed for strait drive shaft to remote belt drive PRU i.e. powering a Quicksilver UL. Would like to convert to gearbox - PRU for direct connect to prop. I understand that the 377 is physically same as the 477 so would consider similar unit from a 477. Intent is to move all other parts over to the new case. Any comments on the intended process are welcome!
    Thanks

I doubt that will work. Early 377's used Smaller Crank Bearings, not exactly sure what year they changed over, I can tell you 1993 was the first year for Provision 8 Cases. The 377/380 is the same basic Engine. Is your 377 a Provision 4 Case or Non-Provision Case? If you want Pro8, it would be simpler to sell yours and just buy a complete 1993+ 380. Rotax Rick did have some Pro8 447UL Cases. You can buy Heads & Cylinders and Cranks off eBay.

A & B Gear Box Internally is basically the same. The Pro4 Case with the A Box needs an Adapter Plate. Never tried a B Box on a Pro4 Case. The B Box bolts onto a 277. There is a Long and Short PTO Gear for the B Box depending if mounting it Up or Down.

There was also an adapter plate for early 3 bolt crankcases (pre-Pro4)

Not sure if that is what Armilite is calling a Non-provision case.

Finding a 3 bolt adapter is probably a long shot.
