Vodafone wingcopter XBR Drone recently set a speed record of 240.06 kph = 66.7 m/sec
at that speeds it was able to hit Reynolds # of 900.000 to 3'500.000 ( lower Re# for the smaller tail , higher Re# for the mid chord )
IF this design , was to be ever fabricated, as a " full size aircraft " those numbers could validate a bigger craft ( at lower speeds )
I have calculated a 4,6 mt span / 6 mt2 wing surface aircraft that would need to fly at around 25 m/sec. or 90 kph
with a 2 meter mid chord for a BWB fuselage/cockpit , < TO MATCH > the above Reynolds #.
Lift coefficient was calculated @ 0.84 for a 70 kph takeoff speed , ( @ lower Re# than above )
CL = 0.46 at 90 kph, cruise speed = 900.000 to 3'5 million @ around 110 kilos gross weight.
with a top speed of around 130 kph @ Re # of around 5' million
Cl, and Re# where calculated with one of the free software " calculator " on the web,
and the size was estimated at 4,6 meter span.
by flying the drone so fast , they open the door for a bigger full size aircraft, IF
it pilot, power plant/ batteries and aircraft was possible at around 110 kgs.
is this feasible ?
