Scout Aviation, who make paramotor hardware, have recently announced what they see as an innovative propeller design, which they refer to as a "Variomatic Propeller"
They claim it will improve efficiency and lower fuel consumption.
Is this design new and innovative, or has it been done before? Variable pitch propellers are nothing new, but this automatic spring-loaded mechanism for achieving/maintaining the variable pitch seems to be what's new.
Could this idea be useful for other small aircraft, beyond just paramotors? There are ultralights and Part 103 aircraft which also use small 2-stroke engines below 50hp, for example - could this be useful for them?
