Hello Everbody!
As I've been researching & exploring through my Grandfather Tom Cassutt's Aviation & Aircraft Design Archives, this specific unreleased "Cassutt 111m/11M Design Journal & Weight Analysis" seemed to have a lot of significance and I notice it's extremely detailed and it seems to include a lot more information than what's available online with his Cassutt Racer plans.
The way Tom had it stored w/ a certain priority & care over other documents further solidified that feeling of its significance, and I'm starting to see parts of it sprinkled throughout a lot of his other personal design files and archives.
Also, Tom continued to update this design journal & add additional relevant notes & new ideas up until the late 70's so I believe there's a lot of ideas Tom included in here but just never released.
In fact, I know he was working on a Cassutt Racer Model 3 and stopped the project right in the middle of the build because the PRPA put a 500lb weight limit on all midget pylon racers and his new Cassutt Racer Model 3 was all about being lightweight at ~400lbs. Tom, being a specialist in Aerodynamics & lightweight racer aircraft design, was pretty devastated by this decision because it made him lose interest in designing new aircraft and he didn't have the same motivation & inspiration, so he stopped the build on his Cassutt Special Model 3 & focused on growing the sport of Formula One & helping designers & builders be able to pilot their homebuilt planes as quickly and safely as possible.
I've been able to locate certain parts of the unreleased Cassutt Special Model 3, such as the propeller and airfoil riblets, but I really want to locate the rest of his plans so other builders, designers, & pilots can take over the project if they want, or at least have that information so they can use in their own aircraft design ideas and plans.
Anyways, I hope this is a helpful resource for you'll! The file was too large so I broke the PDF into 2 Parts. Attached is Part 1 (pages 1-14). I'll post Part 2 in just a minute which will be pages 15-25. Below is a quick preview of the journal + table of contents.
Take care!
