I hope this is not too far off topic for this forum, but I also know that these may be of interest to some of the folks here, even on an experimental airplane forum. Two airplane projects were donated to our EAA chapter today, to support our Project: JACKPOT E-AB youth aircraft build. My job is to trade them for something that is more relevant to our chapter's needs, or if all else fails... trade them for a huge mountain of cash.
1951 PA-22-125 Tri-Pacer undamaged restoration project. Not damaged, but in need of full standard restoration. HAS PAPERWORK. O-290D 125HP engine complete WITH metal propeller, carb, mags, starter, etc. Fabric still on fuselage (needs to be re-done), fuselage on gear, engine on fuselage. Appears to have all major parts, cowlings in great shape, windshield and windows still installed, but need replaced. Wings still covered in fabric, but fabric is "toast" from UV. Struts, flaps, ailerons, elevators, rudder, seats, firewall, baffling all there. Leading edges NOT dented/cracked/damaged. 1951 vintage radios will make excellent candidates for that artificial reef you always wanted to put in the ocean. Stored in High Desert CA under a shade. Will consider trade for a low time O-200 engine that can be bolted on our chapter airplane and started. Will consider trade for Zenith CH-701 or 750 kit or project. May even consider trade for some E-AB or other Light Sport aircraft that can be insured for our Young Eagles program.
1941 Stinson 10B / Model 105 "not quite a basket case" restoration project. UN-DAMAGED but in need of ground-up rebuild, starting from sandblast. HAS PAPERWORK. Can be traded/sold with or without Lycoming O-235-C2C 115HP engine. NOS brand new spruce spar stock to build new spars, but wings are still assembled with old spars, stored indoors. All wood horizontal stabilizer in very good consition, painted and stored indoors. Cowlings and firewall are there. Control surfaces are there. Struts are there. It even has the gorgeous "Hill Streamliners" style metal wheel pants! The Stinson 10/105 series are called "The Baby Stinson" and are the pre-WW2 3 seat version of what became the regular post-war Stinson. These aircraft were used extensively by Civil Air Patrol as US coastline patrol in WW2, and were responsible for spotting enemy submarines (one was even sunk). So this can be an adorable little bright yellow "warbird" with CAP markings on it and be historically correct. The 10B was originally powered by a geared 90HP Franklin engine that was not very successful - most Model 10's have been converted to Continentals or Lycomings. This is a rare opportunity to have an undamaged 80 year old Pre-War antique project that is a legit warbird, yet very economical to own and operate, easily insurable, and usable as an every-day 3 seat family airplane for burger runs. Same interest in trades as the Tri-Pacer.
