i might be getting ahead of myself here . I am still a month away from fabricating my trailing edge material , i am still building ribs at this stage . The Plans for my Dakota Hawk call for pine or sitka spruce trailing edge material.( 9/16x1 3/8 ) This is an all wood wing and fuselage airplane . But yesterday I came in to possession of some Western Red cedar and the thought came to mind Hey! this would be great trailing edge material. It would be a lot more rot resistant. and if there is any place that trapped moisture might accumulate it would be the trailing edge area of the flaps or aileron as far as I know the training edge does not play a structural role ? or does it? I guess that is my question anybody wanna chime in on this?
