Indeed. That's far over a 1000 lbs. Lifting that up several meters by hand force and turning it over is an illusion, even with a dozen guys.
You can fairly easily kick them in. Even by hand I guess that's not too hard. (In sailplanes they're usually a lot thinner as in powered acft).

    Avro Vulcan July 2011

The Avro Vulcan (sometimes referred to as the Hawker Siddeley Vulcan) is a jet-powered delta wing strategic bomber, which was operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1956 until 1984. The Vulcan B.1 was first delivered to the RAF in 1956; deliveries of the improved Vulcan B.2 started in 1960.

In the final years of service six Vulcans were converted to the K.2 tanker configuration for aerial refueling. Since retirement by the RAF one example, B.2 XH558, named "The Spirit of Great Britain" has been restored for use in display flights and air shows, whilst two other B.2s, XL426 and XM655, are kept in taxiable condition for ground runs and demonstrations at London Southend Airport and Wellesbourne Mountford Airfield respectively. - Wikipedia

You can see why the Avro Vulcan was named the "aluminum overcast" by U.S.A.F

"I do NOT promote WAR(s), but feel this was an amazing Airplane."

Heh heh... when he finally pops up after deploying his chute, it kinda reminds me of a piece of toast popping up out of the toaster.

This film was taken at the 1933 Rhoen competition and copied to VHS in the '70s. The unidentified wing at the end is the D-KRISCHAN designed by Alexander Lippisch for Waldemar Beyer.

And this one is - albeit slightly off-topic - very cool.

At about 2:32, is the wing flapping or is that an illusion of the haze and rolling motion?

OMG! I hope it was just roll obscured by the haze and low resolution. By watching the fin you can see that the glider is rolling from side to side. It's a shame that these old films weren't preserved better.
