Over the years we have many enquires wherever we manufacture a bell-housing for the BMW (oil head) engines, after some considerations we purchased a low k BMW R 1100RT engine. Looking at the Take-Off clutch arrangements, apparently their drum clutch has some problems as reported on a South African aviation board. We like the idea of a reliable clutch, usingthe OM clutch arrangement proves cumbersome as its get depressed hydraulically fromthe gearbox site with a long shaft. Not wanting to upset the balance of the OM clutcha nd flywheel weight, we designed an all-aluminum flywheel accepting a diaphragm Sachs clutch disc and pressure plate and coming to the same weight as the OM arrangements and this too will controlled via ahydraulic release bearing. The engagements of the clutch can be smoothly operated for the cockpit. The bell-housing will have an un-canning similarity to the Take-Off with a difference it will accept our sturdy PSRU and a newly designed 4 bearings belt drive. I would be happy hearing your opinions and sugestions.
