I get it, and was reluctant to bring up politics. But politics is where most of the misinformation (euphemism for lie) is originating. Except the beer rumors; that's just corporate warfare. ;-)

I'll try to be quiet now...
Me too.

sun and fun and or any gathering is not going to happen anywhere,140 out of 195 countries now with cases, the uglyiest part of that is we are probably getting down to the countries that have
no ability to diagnose anything ever.
The main thing for the folks here,is to sit down and get your orders in now, dont take any chances that aircraft spruce stops shipping and your build stalls just when you have time.

Reality check folks:

This isn't going to go away today, tomorrow or even a few months from now, this is a serious outbreak that can potentially kill thousands or worse. This is no time to be making any travel plans, it's a time to be cancelling them. Especially our older generation(of which I'm slowly becoming one of...) and folks who have any chance of getting ill due to immune deficiency. I have a few cousins who are nurses and they are freaking out right about now, especially because of where we work and live(NYC). It's just about to hit the fan here and it's not going to be a smooth ride, our local government has been slow to respond to it unfortunately. At least we are finally getting it into gear. Here's to hoping all of us stay safe and protected, remember we are all in this together.

Oh, and Pops, got a spare room ;)

Making more room is the reason I'll taking the camper. There's also more of the family ready to go. My daughter is prepared for the whole family.
I think she is making work plans for all of us :) Always something to do on a farm.

So far not one case in this state. I'm sure it will be different in a few days. Living were there is more deer than people is nice.
Just staying home and working in the hanger each day.
I probably wouldn't totally believe that ; testing for
the bug, hasn't bin all that good, in the USA !

The MGM, and it's money hungry owners ; they shut the doors
to their casino yesterday. Not sure how long they will stay closed.

I went to a supermarket yesterday, and sure enough half of the shelves were empty (ALL the meats, chicken and dairy). Pretty spooky. Plenty of Cap'n Crunch and potato chips however.

Our Mayor (Los Angeles) just shut down all the bars and restaurants except for take-out food.

For the sake of public safety and all of your welfare, I may just have to self-isolate from society... at the hangar where my airplane project is :)

I was just thinking the same thing,
in nine months there will be a lot of babies but also maybe a lot of completions in the EAA mag and the kitplanes

All is quiet , just to the local gas station/ grocery store/ gun store/ trapping store, and bought fuel to do the fuel flow test for the JMR. Everything normal. No run on anything. River is up and milky so no one fishing. Very few pick-up's on the road, saw 2 when I went out. All is quiet.

It's sad to see that Sun N Fun has been pushed back and I'm joining in with the thoughts of others that the proposed May date will probably not be realized either. I always love going to Sun N Fun, and it's a bit more of an entertaining time than Oshkosh for me personally.

And if Oshkosh doesn't happen either this year, well that'll be doubly sad. We were looking forward to showing off for real this year.

Well, there's more to do in Florida than Wisconsin for one; and we have some extended family and friends in Florida to boot. So when it comes to after-show there's actually stuff I can go check out. In Oshkosh there really isn't much besides the event and some food. This year for example, I had plans with a friend to go to a black metal concert in Tampa featuring some well-known bands from Norway and Arizona and the like. But that too was cancelled. Also we sometimes spend an evening going to the local shooting ranges or hanging out on the beach. If you live in Florida, I guess it's not such a big deal. But for me it's a fun time to go down and thaw out from the cold.

But for the events themselves, from a vendor standpoint SNF is a bit more laid back and low pressure, which lets me enjoy checking out what's there a bit more. It feels more like we're hanging out, and a jaunt out and about for a few hours isn't anything critical. Also walking anywhere on the field doesn't compel me to use a tram system, even going from the Hangers to the UL field is a reasonable walk. Oshkosh is certainly more impressive and interesting in terms of airframes and individuals on the field, but it's a lot more work. If I want to go see some Ultralights I better block out a few hours and make sure there's someone covering me for the time. And if I'm over there and someone needs me back at the booth, it's going to be a good 20+ minutes getting back if I B-line it.

But we'll see how it all shakes out over the next few years.

I agree that SnF is more “laid back”. I like that and the ability to get around the site much more easily than at Oshkosh. SnF is smaller, but all of the aviation vendors that I want to see are there. The EAA museum is bigger and better, but one visit there every few years is adequate. Oshkosh easily wins in forums offered, which is a major draw for me, even though I did attended fewer than usual (for me) in 2019.

It would be interesting to limit participation to vendors who sell airplane parts / material or something used to build / maintain HBA, and airplanes in the Experimental category, and then compare the two. Oshkosh would have more warbirds, but everything else would be close to equal..

In the early years of SnF, I met many people whose wife and children were at Disney World, so I understand the draw to the land of warm weather and tourist destinations.

I thoroughly enjoy both SnF and Oshkosh.

One year my daughter and family and my wife went to SuF, Disney and Grand Old Opera at Nashville, and I stayed home and went with a man flying around the U.S. looking at airplanes that he wanted to buy. Flew over 30 hrs. I had more fun. Brought home a nice 172.

See Hangar Flying Virtual Sun n Fun thread if you need a quick SnF fix.

With the mass hysteria that has gripped the nation, look for AirVenture to be rescheduled, or cancelled outright.
What happened on 9-11 pales in comparison to this.
Doubtful Sun 'n Fun will happen this year.
