I came across this brand of automotive gauges that looks perfect for some aircraft uses: www.speedhut.com

Custom colors, fonts, pointers, bezel are all available and the gauges come with all senders (except fuel) and wiring, even little inverters for the lighting, as well as high/low alarm functions and integral warning lights. Unusually for auto gauges, they have a wide selection of 4000 rpm tachs.

At about $350-400 for the tachometer and a multifunction quad gauge, seems like a good option for a modest panel. Nothing in it for me, just sharing what I found.
