when i first saw spaceship one i immediately thought that would make an interesting configuration for a pusher design, i.e booms attached to wing tips and horizontal surfaces attached to outboard rather than inboard.

I gave it some thought and following is what i arrived at. obviously it will lack the structural effiency of a closed structure while vastly improving the looks and addressing the concern that orion voiced for prop blanketing with twin boom designs.

It would certainly take some hard work to make this king of boom-tail stucture stiff enough but given the fact that targeted speed range is around 120 kts i think it should be doable using oven cured prepregs.
