I was intrigued after watching this video:

I know there are plenty of wings with slats in them, and STOL planes that have slots on their leading edges. But I'd never heard of a plane with a wing consisting entirely of slats. Is this possible? Has anybody ever made one?
Such a slat-wing would have high drag, of course. But as an example, horizontal and vertical blinds have slats that can rotate to close the gaps between them. Is it possible to do that kind of slat rotation on a wing, and achieve a more normal low-drag flight when the slats are closed? Has anyone ever demonstrated this on even a small-scale model aircraft?
