As I mentioned in the "what did you do today thread" I'm working on building the rudder kit for the Zenith CH-601. The plans (revision 2005) mention using Zinc-Chromate for corrosion protection, but that seems to be going out of favor due to environmental concerns. For all I know the plans have been updated since 2005, but some general Google searching indicates a lot of differing opinions on corrosion protection for homebuilt aircraft. Many people even seem to suggest no corrosion protection would be fine for our needs.

I live in Connecticut and my plane will not be hangared so it will be subject moderate humidity and possible salt-water environments. There is also a possibility that I will put the plane on floats (freshwater) at some point. As a result, I don't think (in my case) going without corrosion protection is a wise idea.

Scouring this forum, zenith builders, sonex builders, and vans builders didn't leave me with much of a consensus for the best approach. Do any of you have input on the best course of action?
