Hey Everyone
I'm building up a Rotax 583 Liquid Cooled engine for a kitfox and just have a question. I vaguely recall reading something about someone have the stock head of a 583 machined for the dual ignition. Is this correct or possible? Or am I thinking of something else. I'd like to convert this to dual ignition, if possible, just for reliability reasons. Thanks for your help.

First you have to be sure your 583 Case has Dual Trigger Slots? Post a Photo.

Second, does your 583 Case have all Good Provision 8, Boss's and Holes for Gear Drive? Post a photo.

Third, Yes your 583 Head can be Machined for Dual Plug Inserts, or use the Rotax 582UL Head. Rotax Rick does his 670s that way today.

Forth, most Sled Pipes have a flat spot in the Power Curve in the 3500 to 6750rpms range. You need a Tuned Pipe for the 583 Porting!

Fith, check ebay, many used 582UL heads show up $200 to $350, New $820.
