Now refining my design, I looking at HT and VT areas. The 'General Aviation Aircraft Design' (GAAD) Book confirms there's confusion on calculating the VT Area (something I have been experiencing for a while). Some take the middle of the Rear fuselage as the start point (if the VT is vertical), yet others take the top of the HT as the start point if it's raked (angled). So I'm wondering if there are other opinions out there.
Considering both HT and VT area, I wondering if the Balance Horn should be included in the Rudder and Elevator areas, or in the VS and HS areas, or neither. As the Balance horns are opposite to the movement of the Rudder and Elevator, are these negative to the areas of the Rudder and Elevator ie. should their areas be deducted from those control surface areas.
TIA.
