Some of the processes were developed from technology they bought from Lockheed when Lockheed, who had been doing it since the 20's, got out of wood construction.
Skip past the C-82 intro, there is a fair amount of (superficially described but well illustrated) wood processing in the middle parts, then on to Ranger engines.
