You can see it after the last post of the page.

Can we stop feeding the trolls and get back on topic, please?

<pedant mode on> "ad nauseam"... paying forward being corrected on this very phrase years ago in another corner of the interwebs... :)

BJC answered exactly right but, as you directed your question at me, I'll add this note of background. One of the reasons HBA has succeded, when other forums like Rec.Aviation.Homebuilt have imploded in argument, sniping, and cliques, is that the founder of this place insisted that we moderate it to maintain some civility in the discussion. There's plenty of room within those bounds to have nearly any technically-oriented discussion under the sun, and we do. Where he (and therefore, we, the moderators) draw the line is when it becomes personal. You'll please note that I moderated this thread because people were starting to make the discussion about the people talking, not the merits of their arguments, and when the discussion turned to making it about Peter in some rather ugly ways, and not about his project.

What business is it of mine? Myself and a few others were asked by the site-owner to help enforce his rules for this place, and help keep this a great and fun place for people who love talking about homebuilts. That's what makes it my business.

I understand that perhaps you like a more-argumentative atmosphere. Some people do. But HBA does not exist for that purpose. We're here to discuss homebuilt airplanes in general, not to battle for "being right on the Internet." If you really like that latter kind of environment, there are plenty of other places you can find it, and I'm sure you'll have no trouble doing so.

If you'd like to discuss this further, please send me a private message and I'll do my best to address your concerns. In the meantime, let's get back to the actual topic of this thread, please.

The short version of what Topaz just said is that we can discuss and even debate openly and logically without resorting to argument and insult.

Let's just say that I'm fairly conversant with the folks that Peter is now dealing with after Len Fox declined to fly the plane. Apparently, the one or two things that Peter mentioned in his video regarding Len's declination were only part of a long list of items that Len gave Peter. The current folks have been in touch with Len and know what he recommended. I've also informed the potential test pilots of the many issues with the plane that could be divined from the YT videos and I'm confident that they're being diligent in requiring a reasonable aircraft state prior to their attempting a first flight. I've been asked not to divulge details (not that I have a lot of them), but that's what I can say.

There is always the chance (and it happens somewhat regularly) that Peter will find some yahoo cowboy who's willing to get into and fly a box of rubberbands held together with chewing gum and paper clips, but the folks he's now dealing with are not that guy.

Has Peter addressed any of the issues the test pilot listed? He has already said he's not willing to change to a standard aircraft engine. I didn't see any changes to the elevator in order to increase down throw, but I could have missed that.

He did some stiffness checks on the fins. Mostly, I think he has dismissed Len's squawks on the basis that 'it'll be fine!'
It would be interesting to see Len's full list. Perhaps the NTSB will include it in their report.

Any thoughts on "why" his ailerons move more than a broken mirror? Someone had pointed that out and I watched his latest video and the counterbalance is shaking more than the water in a hot tub during a CA Earth Quake

Whether or not the Raptor project is ultimately successful, the first order of business is that nobody gets hurt. I'm glad there are people like you, Marc, working in the background to help in that regard.

Agreed. I would LOVE to see his radical advances in efficiency succeed - it would boost aviation sales and interest ( both good things), AND we could copy his concepts and increase the efficiency of our own aircraft (also good).

THAT SAID - I have 32+ years in the aviation industry and have attained the "inconvenient" knowledge that happy thoughts and intense ambition do not rewrite the physical laws of this universe.

At this point my only hope is that nobody gets hurt.

Great. Now how about Pic's aileron shimmy? Where's the manual for that?

When everything else fails, read the instructions.
