I just read some comments. It appears something Wasabi said has hurt Peter's feelings. He intends to fly it down the runway himself.

Oh great Zeus! Justin knows better than have a control freak like Peter on board for the first flight. Peter already asked Justin in taxi tests if he should take over if the plane got out of sorts. Justin readily quelched that notion.
No. Peter shouldn't be in that plane with Justin.
He sure did, and all the Wasabi eye rolling makes me wonder what other entertaining quotes we have missed out on!

I note the comments section is a lot more contained since the Wasabi video.

BTW, I'm quite convinced that's why the Raptor guy is practicing in the right hand seat all the time, eg; to be there for the test runs.

The hush that has fallen over the crowd is kinda like the home team fans when the visitors score a touchdown.

I don't get the right seat thing. 1000's of SxS homebuilts with a stick are flown from the left seat.

I've met a few professional test pilots, and every one of them said that all their training was all about facts and science and data and safety... for some reason none of them ever remembered there being a TPS course requirement for "bedside manner".

I think they could both fly it. Peter can report and handle his complex systems while Justin keeps his head up with stick and rudder. Otherwise, if done solo by Justin, he should take considerable time to learn those systems.
I would run it a high power while holding brakes locked on the numbers till it starts to get hot then let it go down the runway to cool at 65. He needs to see if it will run at least two minutes at full power a few times.
Ermm, is this not the Aircraft that will be built by possibly ??? a novice homebuilder, and low time PPL with his/her family in the back. So if a qualified Test Pilot is getting baffled by all the 'systems' then there's no hope for the 'man in the street/air'

& as a side issue I've just watched the episode of Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares with the the mad Scottsdale Pizza /Cake business woman Amy.
can you see the parallels here. ???

So apparently Peter was accepting and negotiable. The right stick could be removed.

Doesn't anyone think it would be a good idea to fix it so the engine doesn't quit just because you move the throttle to a certain position?
Maybe lock out the ac at least. Better yet rip it out and save some weight!

Right stick or not, a professional test pilot doesn't need the noise of an owner/builder bleating in his right ear. He needs complete focus on the job.

There just isn't a plausible case for Peter being in the plane on the test flight.

Just spotted on Google Earth that there is a Diesel Specialist next to the Airfield (Valdosta) may well come in handy sooner rather than later ???? oh and a school for Aviation Excellence and the fire dept ????🤘

Well sorta. It's planned that the raptor will be built in a dedicated factory. The 'builder' will come in and mix a few pots of glue and maybe do some bolts up under the scrutiny of experts. No skill needed. To build it, anyway. Looking like flying it will be a different ballgame.

Has it perhaps crossed your mind that there are other test pilots that are just as capable that are closer geographically and more readily available? Obviously not. Maybe that's the direction I'm heading in. It's a better choice for me now than spending way too much time and money to have pilots who show up for just a few hours work.

As I'm about 5/6 hours ahead of you guys in the States, here a reply (not to any question I posted) I found this morning on the latest Raptor YT Video.

I'm betting that Wasabi will not be heading to Valdosta any time soon, (or getting a Christmas card)??? 💔

I hope he has found a test pilot or pilots who are just as capable as Wasabi. This airplane isn't one to hand over to a local with a couple hundred hours of canard time.

It looks like wasabi hadnt autorisation to publish their video, but they had to react to save their reputation due to the media shitstorm and show the other side of the coin.

I thought (not gonna watch the video again to confirm) Wasabi's video indicated that Peter asked them to publish it. Am I mistaken about that?

He said that in the video..., but maybe they forced that authorisation. As a test pilot I would request to explain my reality if my good name was at risk.

Having just re-read my own posting above ,that includes Peters quote that references, "other readily available test pilots closer geographically"
then why the hell not have used them earlier,??? I'm sure that because J&E didn't 'blow smoke up his ar*e' he's dismissed there input. If I can read his comments on his YT Video, then so can they too. I bet they're not happy ???

The test pilot is shown wearing an oxygen mask.463683C2-3A49-4631-93C6-4D2746318946.png
What is it connected to? AFAIK, the Raptor does not have an oxygen system.

Is there a portable oxygen supply?

Is it connected to a fresh air vent (in a pressurized fuselage)?

Not connected?

Thanks,

BJC
