Hi Guys;

I would like to have some general idea of the effect of adding 2 feet to the overall wingspan of the Titan T-51. The aircraft has a span of 24 feet, and I have always felt that the wings look too stubby. It flies well, though, according to owners. Also being exactly 24 feet long, the aircraft looks kind of "square" from the top.

At 3/4 scale, the wings should be 27.75 feet. If one were to make the span 26 feet, making it appear closer to scale, what would this do to the flight characteristics? The original has a gross weight of 1450 pounds, and a wing area of 118 sq feet, for a wing loading of 12.29. Assume that 2 more feet of span would add 4 sq feet of area, max. The wing loading would then be 11.89. I would share this additional span between the flaps and ailerons (not stretch each aileron by one foot).

If you feel like taking a crack at this, please be reasonably specific if you can. Some clown on the Titan website replied "I think it would fly different." I don't blame him for not even signing his name.

Personally I can't anticipate much of a difference on how it would handle. But then, I'm no aircraft designer.

So, any decent guesses?

Thanks, Tom.
