Here is another philosophical question that was sitting in my hair for sometime:
For some reason I am constantly running into all kinds of negative people/pilots out there. One time I heard negative comment about my airplane,( one out of many), that pusher will never fly as well as tractor will. And of course this guy didn't have an explanation but he was convinced that this is just the way it is. He made that conclusion based on his experience and many hours comparing pushers and tractors.
I was born in the USSR where they didn't make front wheel drive vehicles at that time. Finally when they decided to put one into production everybody was getting suspicious. I remember reading an article that was trying to convince suspicious drivers that front wheel drive vehicle is much better than rear wheel drive, because "pulling is always easier than pushing". For some reason this statement stuck in my head for rest of my life.
We know difference between landing tricycle gear versus tail dragger. Where center of mass behind the wheels versus in front of the wheels.
I also heard comments from aeronautical engineer that trying to push airplane (canard) = it's like trying to shoot an arrow backwards with center of mass in the back vs in front.
So, is there any difference from how airplane is handling - pushing versus pulling. Maybe someone have experience flying Cessna 337 on one engine?
