This might seem a bit far off topic but there is method in this ... I have taken an interest in the debate raging over the wing design and operational procedures (take off and landing) of Pterosaurs -eg Pterosaur,net or The Pterosaur Heresies et al - and this came about from doing some back of the envelope calculation on the specimen at Melbourne museum (museum of Victoria) which is right above the Mamenchisaurus skeleton --both of which have "impossible" neck structures given normal physiology . In the case of the Quetzacoatulus Northropi it seems that the thing is impossibly nose heavy as 'rigged' and Paul Mac Cready alluded to this as well with their (short necked) reconstruction . Various biomechanical analysis have been undertaken of hypothetical wing membrane geometries and unconclusive structural analysis -- I was wondering if anyone with the appropriate computer tools could do some simulation and checking to settle at least a couple of the theories (and believe it or not this has a quite direct relevance to a certain man carrying flying device...) Hoping to hear from someone with the know how..
