It will never be easier than it will be today. It doesn't protect that much, and it's a bee-yatch to get off after a while.
The White protective film that has been on the ailerons and flaps of my Sonex project for 20+ years does NOT want to come off. The adhesive has turned to super glue, while the film is embrittled. A hair dryer didn't help, what passes for paint remover these days didn't help. A heat gun on low held in one spot an inch from the surface for 20 seconds followed up with either a plastic razor blade, a plastic putty knife, or a narrow piece of plexiglass sharpened to a knife edge IS fairly effective, and with two people alternatingly heating and scraping you're 3 times as productive.
