While doing research for my "DIY Gauges" project I came across reference to a Prandtl tube for an airspeed indicator, instead of a Pitot tube.
Evidently, the the difference is that the Prandtl has the static port at the end of the same tube as the pressure port, sticking out in front, but on the side. There may be more than one hole for the static pressure. I can't tell from the pictures.
This appears to be what the DIY drones are using.
Is there an advantage for this over a conventional Pitot tube and static port?
