I have a different take on 80/20. Bolted 80/20 has worked fine on my machine for 7'ish years of hard work (doesn't matter if it's 2 1/2D or 3D) wood, aluminum or steel (steel requires several cans of WD-40 and a butt load of paper towels (I don't have flood cooling)).

I hate to admit it but: (Chesty Puller forgive me) I'm using the cheap chinese electronics and motors off ebay. They're the same components that form the backbone of the chinese industrial giant, they're 1/4 the cost of Gecko's, they're bulletproof and they work like a Swiss watch.

I'd have to agree. The only problem with the eBay hardware is the occasional, less than honorable seller with seconds or defective products. The hybrid stepper drives look interesting and I might upgrade to them someday. I don't think Gecko makes a driver for this?
