Venture's landing gear issues were not so much how narrow, but the sag in each main gear leg being unequal, and that did get a fix, but not until the end of production, iirc.

Yes, the story I got from an owner was that the spring rate in the main gear was miscalculated and the early planes tended to 'waddle' on the runway. Supposedly cured with higher rate springs.
