Homebuilt Camping pavilion after the air show.
Corn roast starts @ 5PM underneath Homebuilt Camping Pavilion.
5pm under the HBC pavillion
EDIT: Cabin is now full Thanks for looking!
Just throwing this out here to anyone who'd be interested. I have rented a cabin around 25-ish miles out from Oshkosh for the entire week of the airshow (Sunday the day before the show for check in and check out is the following Monday morning). I'm going solo this year and the cabin can fit up to another couple easily on a sofa bed (the cabin is a one bedroom with a bed and a pull out sofa in two separate rooms). I'd hate to see the space going to waste so I'm offering it FOR FREE to anyone who'd like to attend but couldn't get any reservations anywhere else and hate camping as much as I do
The only things to know are the aforementioned long-ish drive to and from Oshkosh and you're on your own for food and such, this is for the shared cabin only. It's in Fremont, WI and the place is called Bluejay Resort and Campground. The cabin is air conditioned, has a fully equipped kitchen (refrigerator, microwave, stove, etc.) and it has a TV. This is right on the river with pontoon boat rentals for fishing if you like. PM me if interested or need more information. This is no scam or joke folks, it's just an offer from a guy who is attending his first Oshkosh and would like to share the joy
Two companies that were new at Oshkosh 2018 that I will visit in 2019 are Dark Aero https://www.darkaero.com/aircraft and Opener https://www.opener.aero/vision/
Each made bold pronouncements last year.
Compare the Darkaero 1 specs to a Legacy (just to pick a similar airframe, We/Wo, cruise speed) and I think you will find that something doesn't add up (power required at similar weight for similar cruise). It will need to top the Legacy's L/D by quite a bit to achieve that performance. I will look forward to seeing them fly, and will congratulate them if the achieve what they are claiming.
Additionally, at Oshkosh 2018, they claimed to be almost ready to fly, having completed “the hard part, building the molds.”
The EAA 2019 Airventure preview webinar said some sort of "hover board" part103 will fly. Believe it when I see it.
It'll never fly Orville...
Innovation waits for no man, half the fun & adventure in invention is failure.Just my thoughts.
The Uncontrolled Airspace Podcast guys will be broadcasting from Homebuilder's Headquarters Tuesday & Friday at 8:30 am.
I set up camp today. For the first time in 11 years, I wasn’t able to find a spot where I’ve been forever. The campground was absolute full from “improved camping” all the way to the fence. Not a square inch to be found. I ended up setting up camp in what could very well be Fon du Lac. It’s become a popular destination, it seems!
I am parked beneath (beside) the ultralight safety zone, so it’ll be fun to watch those cool critters flying overhead all day.
I’m going to have to start hiking by 0600 to get to morning coffee with the crew on time.
Last year, after spending the first night stuck in the middle of the road, we got towed to a spot that turned out to be perfect. We were along the road where the ultralight, gyroplanes and powered parachutes flew by. Every morning and evening we got that treat.
I will be there (unless other issue emerge) Wends (late if I even get on the field, that is travel day) through the final Sunday volunteering in the Innovation Building at the Solidworks area. If you are trying to get started with Solidworks etc please drop by. I will be there Sat and Sun for sure, Thursday & Friday at the booth are YTD. The Corn Roast is which Nite(s)?
I hope to meet many of you HBA-er's. I got to meet Joe Spencer a couple of yrs ago, what a great guy!
Corn roast 5pm Wednesday at Homebuilt Camping center.
I’m planning to arrive Sunday evening and probably won’t stay past Thursday. I’ll be driving a class c motor coach 2300 miles from the left coast. A bit of road venture on the way to Airventure.
I’m outta here Wednesday morning with my neighbor in his RV6. Three nights in the Hilton then to the dorms Saturday. We’ll get a prime parking spot for a quick exit Friday morning after our HBHQ group picture. I can already smell the coffee.
That's if we can find any corn (late crop planting due to wet Spring)
Show up and be surprised!!!
Surely you are kidding.
We have corn here at Walmart 20 cents each.
No, we are not kidding, and please don't call us Shirley.
