Hi all
I have lurked around HBA for the last few years and even posted a few times but I never really introduces myself so here goes......

I'm Chris, Im 22 years old and I have been flying ultralights and light aircraft since I was 18. I cut my teeth in a Rans S12 and a T Bird II with Ray Cuningham in Pomona, ks before finishing my PPL in a cherokee 151. Since then I have logged 567 hours in the air.
So how did it all start? I have wanted to fly ultralights for as long as I can remember and I cant say my parents really approved of the idea! I purchased my first ultralight, a modified legal eagle with honcho wings and a generac engine in the summer of 2008 and after 7hrs dual in the Rans and T Bird I soloed myself in the Legal Eagle in September of 2008. I logged around 75hrs in the Legal Eagle before selling it in the fall of 2009 and buying a minimax 1100 with a 377 rotax. I flew behind the 377 till the spring of 2010 then dropped a 447 on the nose in my quest for better short field performance (I frequented a 700ft model aircraft strip with trees on theends). In the summer of 2010 I aquired an original quicksilver MXII as a project and set about getting it in the air again, at the same time I finished out my ppl.

The quick was a nice change of pace and I flew it till the spring of 2011, giving rides to friends and floating over the kansas prairie. In the spring of 2011 I was offered a job on the P3 program with lockheed martin in marietta ga and as much as I hated to, relocating forced me to either put the planes (minimax and MXII) in storage or sell them. I got a good offer for the quick so I sold it in april of 2011 and put the max in storage, packed my bags, and moved halfway across the country.

Come fall of 2011 I realised I was never going to get the max to georgia and didnt want it to sit in the back of the hanger forever so it headed off to an aspiring sport pilot in west texas, I havent heard from the new owner in over a year and I often wonder about the fate of my little yellow bird.
In January of 2012 I was laid off by lockheed and after 2 months unemployed I took a job as the A&P at KMCW in clear lake IA (my current occupation and residence) A month after starting my new job I was walking through an older hanger here on the airport and I noticed an airbike project sitting neglected in the corner looking like it hadnt been touched in several years. A little legwork located the owner and it turns out he was more than willing to sell the project.
I am currently in the process of recovering the wings and tail feathers and rebuilding the 503 and I hope to return to the skies come spring.
so to sum it all up.......

What have I owned......Legal Eagle, Minimax, Quicksilver MXII, Cessna 150, Airbike
What have I flown....all of the above plus a Rans S-12, T-Bird II, Himax, CGS Hawk Arrow II, Rans S-14(tapered wing)
and the best part? yep, I'm only 22!
