What this REALLY says to me is that the world of business is now dead and the world of finance has taken over. Thus: funding will be very difficult for a real business that can promise maybe 10% ROI from earnings vs. the "money for nothing and your chicks for free" kind of speculative gains when the stock is played for a few years without anyone doing anything except spending the "investor's" money. Of course, each and every proponent of these scams is counting on financiers' ignorance being passed on vicariously from the gamblers at their casino - each and every one of whom expects to make a bitcoin type of return when the fad (or in this case miracle) catches on.
Um, Yup! your first sentence...

Test flights have already begun at a secret facility known only as "Tracy Island", with test pilots Virgil Tacy and Scott Tracy, along with FTE "Brains" Tracy.

Some of us of a certain age have specific sound bite memories ingrained into our mind - FIVE!... FOUR!... THREE!... TWO!... ONE!!!

Yea, well that’s all we need. Fast travel. That will create an international rescue squad will bring in the aliens, so while we are watching for UFOs, we then accidentally blow up a waste dump on the Moon and it blows out of orbit. The cold fusion guy is a menace.

As long as it doesn’t have ablative reactor shielding like the Fireflash did…

And look… it has solar cells on top just in case the fusion engines don’t generate quite enough power!

I’d love to here the logic of that airframe/wing configuration…

If only he had done this several years ago. I mean, it checks ALL the boxes....fusion, supersonic aviation....if only it was electric and VTOL and Bluetooth controlled and allowed you to grow marijuana on board.

They could have had the mother of all SPAC deals ever. He could even had Musk and Thiel on the board. Maybe Liz Holmes as well.

Why are people getting mad when others are placing bets on moonshots?
In one respect, it's not my money so I don't care.
In another respect, the system I live in depends on a working marketplace of ideas for efficient utilization of limited capital for the development of new products and services. So, idiotic uses of capital do affect my well being.

A moon shot is okay if there's a slim but real potential for a commensurate huge payoff. Throwing money away isn't the same thing.
