The nuclear-powered ‘Hyper Sting’ could whisk travelers from London to New York in 80 minutes

The plane is to be twice as fast as the Concorde, and twice as big. The big breakthrough that makes this possible? Cold fusion!

The aircraft’s success as the fastest commercial passenger plane in history lies firmly on the as-yet untested theory of cold fusion via a "cold fusion nuclear reactor" that would power two ramjet engines and four next-generation hybrid turbojets.

Be patient. The guy behind this says production of the jets probably won't happen until sometime after 2030. :)

Hopefully there will be more details soon on how we can invest in this opportunity.

I suppose we need something to look forward to once the new batteries are developed.

Note: For posting in the crashes in the News - Thread

Will the cold fusion supersonic jet make a big ice cube when it crashes? Now there is an anti global warming solution that is worth looking into.

Who cares about the plane? When can I buy the engine to run my private island?
To me, that was the funniest part. First, he assumes that cold fusion exists and can be made into a practical source of power. Then, obviously, the first thing to do is to use it to power an SST.

I"m old enough to recall the Hoopala about Cold Fusion 40-50 years ago, was it?

I suspect this is promoted by a facet or splinter group of the gang advancing the Global Winter-Global Warming, [er Change] cyclic fraud promotions. Just my opinion - backed by some experience.

FWIW

Right on BJC. You do it.

I do believe that would kill the subject though as no would have an interest if it was generally acknowledged that the concept would never work. It is the “if you can dream it, someone can do it” concept that keeps the idea alive.

On this site the “flying car” is the poster child.

I still think that’s do-able as long as we don’t ask too much of it. This hypersonic nuclear thing is in a whole different category.

I semi-agree with the flying car thing. I think the Roadable airplane will come first though.

As to the cold fusion thing you have to understand how it works before you can use it to power a hypersonic airliner.

It is not an appropriate subject for this list. PM me if you would like to discuss this in greater detail along with a theoretical explanation. Very Interesting!

I do not trust the Spanish designer Oscar Viñals. I suspect his CAD drawings are a front for the intended aero configuration. The clue is those pod like bulbs in front of the wing.

The fuselage and tail needs to be reversed with respect to the wing, engines and horizontal stabilizer in order to make a workable system.

This is a semi common tactic to mislead competitors. I am confident the Chinese and Russians have a parallel program and industrial spies gathering data.

Eighty minutes, that's like, forever! I'd rather use the Stargate captive wormhole technology and get to my destination instantly. How does one make a Kickstarter campaign anyway?

What this REALLY says to me is that the world of business is now dead and the world of finance has taken over. Thus: funding will be very difficult for a real business that can promise maybe 10% ROI from earnings vs. the "money for nothing and your chicks for free" kind of speculative gains when the stock is played for a few years without anyone doing anything except spending the "investor's" money. Of course, each and every proponent of these scams is counting on financiers' ignorance being passed on vicariously from the gamblers at their casino - each and every one of whom expects to make a bitcoin type of return when the fad (or in this case miracle) catches on.

Well, let's not give the scammers visionaries too much credit, we don't know if this guy has successfully made any money. The existence of these types of "news" articles just indicates that the clickbait works.
My providing the link here just helps the purveyors of this stuff, and for that I apologize.

We really need a different thread category for this and many other announcements. Rather than “New Technology” something more like “BS, Vapor Ware and Fantasy”.

We discussed that a few years ago, the conclusion was that it would just encourage the crazies to come here.

financiers' ignorance - Money fund managers are not ignorant. They get paid to invest 401K funds it this sort of project and get a few benefits on the side.

From post # 19 "We discussed that a few years ago, the conclusion was that it would just encourage the crazies to come here."

Dana,

Thanks for the info. Indications are that they (including some lurkers and myself) have arrived long ago.
