PeetPilot

Hi all - Pete here, I'm a pilot and aircraft systems engineer, just joined the forum.

I've always been an aircraft enthusiast, and I've doodled up many an airplane in my time, but I've finally decided to get serious and come up with a real-world airplane because I've found that since I've become a real aircraft design engineer, I don't really get to do that much aircraft designing!! So, I have a 'doodle', with the ultimate goal of blowing my life's savings building it some decades from now when I retire, or maybe sooner, who knows...

So, I think it's sort of like the bastard child of a Lancair Evolution, a Zenith Ch801 and a Dornier Seastar... or something like that. Those are some of the aircraft I've taken inspiration from at least.

My principle is this;
-High centreline mounted turboprop (probably a PT6) driving a contra-rotating propeller through an epicyclic gearbox. This elminates P-factor, prop torque and the undesirable flight characteristics caused by it.

-Enables the possibility of using exhaust or bleed air for blown flaps or anti-ice.

-Pointy glass 'oberver' nose section gives excellent taxiing visibility and ground observing while in flight. Slim cowl above the canopy minimally obstructs upward vis

-T-tail in line with propwash for maximum control authority

Other aspects not represented;
-Titanium tube skeleton forms the structure, with monocoque carbon or glass fibre panel sections fastened directly to the titanium frame.

-Slightly swept wing, with extendable fowler flap & slat for STOL performance.

-Other niceties on my 'dream on' wish list; G1000 avionics, air conditioning, supplemental oxygen/pressurized cabin, airframe parachute system, emergency JATO rockets?? haha :)

Ok... I'm obviously daydreaming pretty hard here, time to come back to the real world. Please indulge yourselves, and tell me why my crazy design won't work, because I'm rather pleased with it but need to come down off my cloud I think...
Thanks in advance for your comments!
