I just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. Bryan Nelson from San Antonio, Texas. I have decided to build a Pietenpol. This will be my first homebuilt. I have been building R/C airplanes for over 40 years. I have plans, and am putting together the wood, and metal raw materials, and doing lots of studying. It's too hot here in Summer to build. Once it cools off (October) I'll start in earnest. If anyone is in the area, and has some spare spruce, let me know. I'd love to avoid shipping from CA, or IL. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions to come.
Welcome home Bryan. Which engine will you be using in your build? We just spent a couple of days driving across Texas. Left out of Memphis late Monday morning and pullled out of El Paso on Wednesday morning enroute back to Phoenix. Yep, it was hot and it's plenty hot here in the Phoenix area. Don't know of any wood suppliers in your area. I typically buy my stuff from Aircraft Spruce unless I can find an individual wanting to sell materials. Wicks seems to be slightly more expensive but not by much. Way back a few years ago I bought wood from Wicks Organ company.....just before Wicks Aircraft came into existence......avoided shipping by driving up from Southern Illinois and picking it up myself. Hello Bryan, from N. Dakota. Glad to hear a poss. Piet being built. Welcome to HBA. There has been many Pietenpol's flown behind the Corvair engine. Have fun. Don
Thanks y'all. TerryM76, driving across Texas can be a real beating. Sometimes it seems like you just cant get out. LOL I am waffling between a WW Corvair, and possible an O200. Leaning toward the Corvair. MechAeroAuto, I used to ride my motorcycle from Waco to Dublin to get Dublin Dr. Pepper.
