A cross between a Boomerang and a Pond Racer. I'm not sure if they are related, but Rutan designed the Boomerang after the Pond Racer crash, and addressed one of the issues of low speed controllability with one engine out. This design would address two of the issues with that design, one being that the pod adds frontal area. I like the Aircobra, as I think it anticipates the mass centralization that came to dominate automotive racing, and the concept in aircraft didn't really get developed before the war ended and jets took over. Even so, it was an aircraft that was much more successful than its reputation would indicate, and would definitely be more fun to see implemented (IMHO) than another P-51 replica.
