Probably about time I put some details of this up and ask for feedback!

The idea is for an all composite, very efficient single seater (looks a lot like a low aspect ratio glider & will use a whole load of glider techniques).

Basic spec:
  • 250 km range
  • 80 Knot Cruise
  • 35 Knot Stall speed (SSDR* legal requirement!)
  • 300Kg All Up Weight (SSDR legal requirement!)
  • +6g/-4g +2x safety factor
  • Space for one pilot up to 90kg inc parachute

Which has lead to:
  • 9m span
  • 8.25m^2 wing area
  • FX 79 k144 wing section (0.37 Cruise CL)
  • Slotted flaps over untapered span(!)
  • 80kg Batteries
  • 15 kg Motors etc.
  • 105 kg left for structure(!)

*SSDR is Single Seat DeRegulated in the UK - no regulatory oversight - just ask for a reg, third party insurance and off you go.
