In the new posts section they don't all show up. A post was made in my thread "Mike makes parts" and it doesn't show up anywhere in the "new posts" area.

Is it something I did on my end?

It was gone for a short time - at least for me. The new admin seems to be putting in a bunch of time today. Where is the 'thumbs up' emoticon when you need it :)

Actually, it doesn't work that way for me. It always takes me to the first unread. I've got to manually scroll back to get to the beginning, or click the time/date of the first post.

Biplane and POA work the same way.....

There is a cache I believe that updates every few minutes for that sidebar widget. I don't think it's truly dynamic.

It looks like "new posts" only shows new posts that you haven't read. I liked it better when new posts (or "recent posts" ) showed all the recent posts, unread ones had bold titles.

Right. As it is currently configured, "New Posts" will never show you a post you've already read (to include one that you just wrote). If you want to see a post that you wrote, you can click on "my replies"--that tab apparently brings up threads to which you have contributed (whether you've read the most recent one or not). Or, go back to the "Forums" tab and work your way through the tree diagram (uggh).

IMO, it would be great to have a "recent posts" tab at the top that showed ALL recent posts, whether they were "new" to you or not (i.e. whether you've read them or not, whether you are subscribed to ("watching" in the new vernacular) the thread or not). The unread posts could have bold titles (like the previous program had).

As it is, overall this implementation appears to make it more difficult to see posts and threads that have no content that is new to you. Once you've read the most recent post, it gets harder to see that thread again. I don't think that works very well for the way I use HBA. It's not a "see it once and never again" sort of place.

Just my opinion. The rolllout is going pretty well.

I seem to be getting pretty comfy with the new digs. Change is good.

I really do not want to turn My Inbox Helper loose on my computer. They have to make money some how, and I can see more advertisments than what we have now. Being your basic capitalist (non-monopolic, non-oligarchic) I can stand some "free information" on the side bars. But when one has to scroll back and forth to see both ends of the lines on some messages, they become a chore.

That big green box is an advertisement for "Inbox Helper." Don't click on it. It is (in my opinion) a deliberately deceptive advertisement for a product. If you scroll over it, there is a small X in a box that you can use to close it--but another Google ad will soon show up in its place.

The new software is serving us advertisements along the top banner and on the right side (at least in my browser). These will probably be a constant presence now, unless you have an ad blocker that stops them.

After you go to "new posts", you'll see a link at the top for "recent posts", which will show you all recent posts, even if you've already viewed them.

Does the “Search Media” function work?

    Was all media transferred?

I don't often log in unless I have something to say. The ads in the text boxes are annoying. There, I said it. :>)

Good catch :) Although the top ad area doesn't collapse (leaving a lot of white space), it does remove the ads.

Okay, because I'm a nerd and I hate whitespace, I installed Rufflewind's Custom Stylesheet & Script extension for Chrome and added this line:

    Code:
    .adpage_wrapper {display:none;}
Now when the site loads, the ad area collapses. It's the little things :)

I like many of the changes. The only thing about all the changes I don't like is the main landing page. The old version had it great because the forum section was on the left and the latest posts......and who posted....was on the far right. It was fast to check things out. As an example, the Hangar section has a new post and you can see right next to it what thread and by whom. So if you don't like or do like the particular thread it's all available in one "look".

Now it's gone 100%. You need to scroll down and you can see a post was updated and you need to click on it to find out what section etc.

For me at least, I don't follow forum sections. I follow certain people and certain threads on certain topics because that's ultimately what matters. ItsI as if that "connection" is kinda gone. Maybe it's just me.

Of course, my opinion which is irrelevant, still a cool forum.
