    This is why the corporate “do what the other guy is doing” mentality doesn’t work.

    They went for the half million dollar market when they could have sold 10 times the aircraft in the 250k range.

    Yes, they would have only made 1/5th the gross profit per aircraft, but would have made twice the overall profit by multiplying that 1/5th by 10 times.

    And that’s assuming no improvement from improving scale. They probably would have saved $50k per aircraft, doubling the profit margin and making the total 4 times the total profits.

    Yes, there is nothing on that aircraft that justifies increasing the cost by hundreds of thousands of dollars for a few extra hp.
